First off I want to state that I'm a big fan of dungeon crawlers. From Diablo on the PC to PSO on the console side I'm a big fan of them. Unfortunately I'm still trying to figure out what to call CoN. I'll start with this, a cheater's paradise.
There is 0 security against duping in this game. Save your character, give all your great stuff to a player, quit game, start up next game and you both have identical stuff. Without the automatic save when quitting or disconnecting duping is an in game feature. Oh, and for those of you trying to play legit? You can't create a new character and give him money from your old one. Money isn't something you can drop or transfer.
That being said don't expect an honest player in the game. Now you're not going to be PK'd, you're not going to be FSOD'd but items in this game are a joke. To me the collection aspect was the best part of Diablo or PSO, here, it just doesn't exist.
On to the gameplay, hack and slash. It's great fun just like you'd expect from Snoblind Studios (Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance) and it's exactly what you'd expect. You'll love it or hate it but if you wanted BG:DA online with 4 players, this is it and it shines brightly. The classes are diverse but I've only played with one so far so can't comment on the differences or balance.
The voice in this game? Average to horrible. It's plainly clear that the PS2 can never and will never match Xbox Live this generation in terms of communication. Even with the HDD coming it just isn't going to happen. Your experience will run the gammit from static, dropout, horribly modulated voices to ones that just sound okay. Technically the headset usage on this game is a mess.
The game has incredible shortcomings I just can't ignore, voice and duping. However the gameplay and music are solid and exactly what you'd want if you're a fan of the genre. If they'd left the voice out and fixed the save/item issues the game would be a solid 8.5+ however I can't ignore the obvious and the score falls to the 7 I've given it.
