If you've played Baldur's Gate on the consoles, then you know what to expect here. However, you will soon realize that this game is the best of the bunch. It has a whole lot more of everything, including length and variety.
There are lots of places in the game where you will be amazed at the amount of detail they can cram in a PS2 title. There is some slowdown though, not to the point of being choppy or unplayable, but it's a noticeable departure from the usual silky-smooth framerate of these Baldur's Gate-type games.
There's plenty of gameplay to be had with this title. Not only can you play 5 different character classes, but if you have online capability, you can partner up with other people and play through the quests (at the time of this review, though, online play is somewhat deserted...probably because they're playing the sequel).
Since this is now a "Greatest Hits" title, it's definitely worth the price of admission. Good hack-and-slash fun that somehow doesn't feel TOO repetitive.
